Cleveland Weekend
Mission: Saturday morning the group worked in a warehouse of a food
pantry sorting Depends adult diapers and liners. Local retailers
donate large cardboard bins full of un-sellable packages, whether
they are slightly ripped or all the way open, and the food pantry
distributes them with the food delivered to elderly people in the
community. The group's job was to refill the packages and tape them
shut then place them in an orderly fashion on the shelves of the
warehouse. We then went to the recycling center/thrift store owned
by the same organization as the food pantry, Operation Refuge, Inc.
There the group sorted through a bin of paper to separate newsprint
from all other paper and organized the merchandise on the shelves of
the thrift store. Fun was also had by all. (Summary of the mission
trip to Cleveland, Tx. provided by Meghan Burton).
